Ability to Be Still

Ability to be still with Donna ReinersSupport comes and goes so it is important we know how to walk out life without any crutches. Sometimes we need to get quiet and hear our own hearts beat and our own lungs breathe. Being still and quiet with zero distractions to consider life is a good thing. Am I saying do not have friends – absolutely not – I can count how many I have on one hand and I’m thankful for them. However friends cannot fill you up and give you substance. The days have arrived when we must grab hold of the courage to like ourselves just like we are WHILE GOD IS changing us into His likeness. Therefore, be BOLD and let yourself become still – even if its only for 5 minutes a day at first. Then, show yourself RESPECT and remind yourself of His dying value and HIS amazing RESURRECTION for you. Take ACTION and don’t allow the quiet to scare you away. Be VICTORIOUS and move away from past fears into current BRAVERY! Finally, ENCOURAGE yourself and see what God does in your life! As BRAVERY becomes a lifestyle, perhaps our choices will reflect it. As I grow older and hopefully wiser, I bravely find myself more often than not, responding to the Ability to be Still with a simple yes and I stop, breathe and thank God I can say yes and stop and breathe.

Until soon – share with a friend –

4th INVITE into Silence

Rarely do I have a day I have not carefully scheduled or consider as important. Rarely do I live a day when I’m not meeting someone on purpose with purpose or spending time with God or in His Word or cooking a healthy meal for my husband or exercising my body, writing to encourage another soul or visiting someone who needs help or is alone. When I was young I had no idea who I was or what I wanted in life and it showed in my aimless life. I avoided silence because I avoided myself. I busied myself with busyness because I avoided me and the many quandaries of that day and time. The busier I made my mind – the more I avoided what I needed to actually finish. I encourage you today to meet yourself!! You will find you are amazing…. love love,

3rd Invitation into Silence

Silence is almost a lost art form of sorts…yet I highly recommend it. I recommend you thinking thoughts without the props of music or talking. I recommend you accessing the place of silence where LOVE speaks…where light shines into darkness…where ashes turn into beauty and where you are looking at life from a higher place. This morning, after the silence was broken, I reminded myself that being alone is not always lonely just as being with a hundred people doesn’t mean you have a friend. I also reminded myself that the reason I’m not deciding what movie to go see, outfit I want to wear or friend I’m going to meet is because my use of time is much different today than it was many years ago. I plan my time now. I’m not so rigid that I have every single moment planned so that I can’t be spontaneous BUT I attempt to be productive…plan my life in such a way that I can look back and see where I have grown, what I have done and how I have impacted my life or the lives around me.

What about you? Tell me about you! It’s time to be BRAVE….be bold today my friend and introduce yourself to your best friend – YOU.

Invitation into Silence 1

Invitation into Silence

When I woke up this morning I had a most definite feeling of alone-ness. Almost empty really. It was almost overwhelming as I pondered my day…alone was in front of me and to be honest I normally do not mind…the alone part. However, for some reason I sidestepped the invitation into silence.

I stopped to listen and got no inspiration or understanding. Instead, I slipped into memories of my younger years when my responsibilities were deciding what movie I wanted to go see or what outfit I would wear or who I was going to meet or what I would do with the leftover in my check after I paid my car note which at the time was about a hundred dollars. Those were the days!

We have a LACK of Silence

Silence is an interesting word and an interesting condition of the heart. Some would even venture to say that silence is boring and to be honest, I believe that is the worn out norm for many generations. Think of the lack of silence that penetrates our days. Elevators have music to captivate your short attention on the way to your floor. Every doctor and dental office has music to drown out the confidential dialogues happening with patients. Frequently, you’ll find music flooding the department stores and grocery stores that keep you happy and energetic. More often than not it is very difficult to locate a restaurant that will allow you to have thoughtful conversation without some sort of musical ambiance to set the stage. None of this yet mentions our ability to keep our ears on overload with music or teaching through our very smart phones which are loaded up with every variety of sound available to man except perhaps – silence.

What’s my challenge today? GET QUIET! Be unafraid of silence. Turn off the radio, CD player and IPOD in your car for a week. Spend a day without tv. Try something new….enjoy YOU….the unfiltered you….the you without props and find out you are AWESOME without all that jazz……..adding noise to your mind and heart.

OKAY. That’s it.

HAVE A FANTABULOUSLY AMAZING DAY!!!
